about me...

I finally finished my 100 things about me list and thought I would post it here:

  1. I was born on March 21, 1980.
  2. Second oldest of 4 kids. One older sister, 2 younger brothers.
  3. I am 50% Polish. My dad has our family's original immigration papers.

  5. I live with my boyfriend of 7 years, one bearded dragon, and an aquarium of fish.
  6. I am a law student. This year will be my last year! Scary!
  7. I am a native of Illinois, my parents have lived in the same house my entire life. And I lived there too until I moved away to go to law school.
  8. I am about 5’ 6” tall.
  9. I am naturally super skinny.
  10. I eat a lot. And I mean a ton. So much that my boyfriend says I eat more then him. Really though I’m just on a two to three hour time line. As in if I don’t eat every couple of hours I get really cranky, and then sick.
  11. I come from a really big family. My dad is the oldest of 10!
  12. I make really good lasagna and a pretty good onion soup.
  13. I have a really amazing boyfriend, we met when I was 15, he was 14. Started dating when I was 17, and we have been living together since October. This year will be number 8!

  20. I have never broken a bone.
  21. I have gotten stitches once, and I have a fairly large scar from it. Luckily it is on the back of my head covered by hair. Oh wait, my mom tells me I actually have a bald spot in the scar area. Great, something to get self-conscious about.
  22. I love Spongebob!
  23. I scrapbook.
  24. I have been to the Bahamas, Aruba, and Australia!
  25. I like kids movies such as Holes, Spy Kids, the Princess Diaries, and the Harry Potter series.

  35. I have green eyes.
  36. I procrastinate in a major way.
  37. I do not like meat on bones. No ribs, and no chicken on the carcass. Really I prefer when my meat doesn't look like an animal of any sort.

  46. I am obsessive about the way I wash my dishes, which is in total contradiction to my personality since I tend to be more on the dirty side then the clean freak side.
  47. I like organization. My sister laughed when I color and pattern organized her scrapbook paper.

seriously...

Last time I posted it took forever for bloglines to update. Is this a blogline problem or a blogger problem? (oh by the way i've already written this once, and blogger ate it..)

Opinions needed!!! I am making a blanket knit from the inside out, circular style. I have the same amount of each color. Should I:

  1. Knit the stripes in equal widths?
  2. Knit the stripes in irregular widths?
  3. Knit the blanket in sections. All of color A, all of color B, and then all of color C?
Any opinions?

and finally the pictures

It has been a hectic begining to the school year. Yup, so it is finally wednesday and I'm getting a chance to sit down and put up those pictures of my last secret pal present!

Here is a picture of the pretty wrapping. The stripes in the tissue paper coordinated with everything in the package. On to the fun pictures!

First there are the famous knit notecards that I have seen a lot of people receive, and finally I get some of my own. Then there is the necessary candy because I am a sugar freak. A lovely little notebook. Some very pretty stitch markers, and some lotions (one of which I am going to take to the clinic and leave there so I always have some lotion).

Now you see first in the upper right there is a round picture frame. Cute isn't it? I am looking for a good picture of me and my man to put in it and then it will be brought into the clinic with me to brighten up my little cube. Then below that are some pretty needles with little bead things on the end. I think they are my prettiest needles! On the bottom is a tape measure that is shaped like a sheep. Definatly makes measuring more fun. There is then some tea, one of which is a sleepy time tea which amuses me far too much. Above that is a chibi needle (I think that's what its called, but I cannot be bothered to look). Right by the lotion in the bag are some spongebob bandaids! At the very top of the pic is a bath poofy. And then comes the yarn! Some very pretty Noro, a ball of Skacel, and Dolcino by trendsetter yarns. What a terrific package! Thank you again Janet!

***editted to add the rant below, if you don't like ranting don't read***

My boyfriend has been borrowing my car for the last two weeks since his has been broken. Fine whatever, not that big a deal since basically I walk to school and walk to the law clinic so I really don't need my car during the day. Today he comes home from work and announces that he has lost the face to my radio. Excuse me? He swears he had it on Sunday (and I know it was around Sunday), and he hasn't used the radio since. He has been the only one to have the face to the radio and he is the only one that has used the car. So he's all upset. The part that really pisses me off is he is making me feel guilty for being mad about it. Don't I have a right to be mad? I mean the radio cost $180 when I bought it. I know its been a few years, but I need a radio in my car. Especially when most of my time is spent on 5 hour drives. I think it is perfectly reasonable that I am upset. I hate when people make me feel guilty about being mad. Some situations deserve a little bit of anger. (I am upset but it's not like I'm yelling or crying... or throwing a fit...I am just pissed off, ya know?)

am I lucky or what?

I just received my last secret pal present and found out who my secret pal was! This was my first time participating and I feel like I was incredibly lucky. This last package was just amazing. It was so perfectly color coordinated as well!

The present was completely wonderful in all the right ways. I bet you are just dying to see it, right? Well sorry, I am about to go out of town, I haven't packed, haven't done my homework, and the pictures will have to wait.

I just wanted to post this quick to say thanks to Janet at knitapalooza! She was my secret pal and she was great. Thank you so much!

busy?

Wow, when things get busy, they get busy!

First week of school and ohhh is it hectic! Yikes this clinic thing is sounding like it is going to be a lot of work. I already have clients. Yeah...

Went to a lecture today about foster children aging out of the system. Interesting... just a further indication of how much there is left to learn. Or I should say, a further indication of how I will never be able to stop learning in this area since it is constantly evolving.

My wish for today is that I would be able to sleep like a normal person. Like be able to go to sleep when I am tired and stay asleep until either the alarm goes off or I am no longer tired. If this does not make complete sense it is probably because I slept from 10:00 pm to 12:45 am, then from 5:45 to 8:30. This sleeping plan is just not working for me. I feel like hell. Seriuosly. But I am resisting the nap because then I might not be able to sleep tonight again.

Knitting is coming along slowly. I worked a little on my lacy scarf. I really should take some pictures.

exhaustion!

Today has been rather exhausting. It was the first day of my orientation for the legal clinic I am doing. This year (it's a two semester commitment) I am doing a children's rights clinic where I will be pretty much representing children in juvenile delinquency hearings, child in need of assistance cases, pretty much all those types of things. It's exciting and scary to think about. I'll get a special license to practice law with a supervising attorney. This means that I could be sued for malpractice! And disbarred before I even pass the bar! It's a lot of responsibility which makes it a little bit terrifying. It's going to be a huge time commitment as well.

And I got my little letter for making the dean's list! whoopie!

I also got my hours for the journal. This year I am senior staff. Which means for some of my hours I am the person in charge in the office. Ha! Me? Like I know what I'm doing? Time to set a bad example! Kidding, I partly know what I'm doing.

So the school year is starting, which is the official end of summer in my book. Bummer.

My parents and sister are coming for my swearing in ceremony. They will get in late tomorrow and hopefully I will get to see them Wednesday before the ceremony for lunch or something. I should straighten up the apartment a little bit.

Oh today I made bread. It is a success! It was my first time!

Knittin' has been done as well I'm about 2/3 of the way through the back of a cottonease sweater from a family circle easy knitting magazine of which I can not recall and don't really care to go and look for. I am also knitting a lace scarf which I have just spent 20 minutes unknitting cuz I majorly fucked it up. yeah...that sucked. Lifeline? Mmm maybe that would be a good idea!

blah

Today is just one of those days when I should just go lay down and cry.

Bah.

everything...

oh my gosh- LOOK at the pictures!

This weekend was so incredibly uneventful. The boy is sick. I was feeling sick on Saturday. Some studying got done, but not nearly enough. Some knitting got done but I tried to limit it. My hand and arm were hurting on Friday so I thought it might be a good idea to slow down the knitting for a couple of days. That being said here's what I did:

Finished Tivoli Tee. Took 3 1/2 skeins of Knitpicks elegence on size 5s. I am worried it might be a bit itchy. This is an unblocked picture. Ok, I cannot take a picture of myself very well either, so yeah...don't make fun of how stupid I look.

I made the pieces for a pigglet. Here it is all uneventful and unsewn. This is made out of Cottonease on size 3 needles. You can kinda see a pig like form in there, right?

I started a pinwheel blanket. This is made out of eBay yarn. Some sort of Chenile. Two strands of the lighter colored and one of the darker. I think it's nice neutral colors. This will either be a Christmas present or it will be a donation to the church bazaar. I am doing this on huge size 15 needles. So quick!

In other non-knitting news, I start school on the 18th. And for my first 2 days of school in one class I already have 42 pages of reading. UGH!

Here are pictures of some recent purchases I have made in my stress induced state. I tell yah I really do buy when I am stressed. It is a horrible condition!

Cottonease:

Magazines:

eBay yarn:

Books:

Some of the stuff I cannot show because they are for gifts either for the SP or for RAOK. I admit it, I have a problem.

This week I need to send out some RAOKs, and my last present for the SP. Maybe tomorrow because I also need to pick up a perscription from Walgreens. Trying to say NO, I will not leave the house until much studying had been done.

I almost forgot! Here are pictures of my second package from my Secret Pal!There is some sock yarn in there and some Microspun. I have never attempted socks of any sorts so I will have to see about this. She also gave some links to some helpful sock sites.

Wish me luck only 4 days of studying left before the MPRE (Multi state professional responsibility exam). This is just one step of my being an attorney (in a year).

yadda yadda yadda

On Monday there will be pictures. Pictures of my finished Tivoli tee which will hopefully be blocked by then. And hopefully the little piggy that I knit today will be sewn up so I can show that off too. But for now I'll I'm asking is for my Secret Pal to contact me. I think you said a package was going to be sent soon? Was it sent yet? If so I may need to go and check with the office manager (see post below). Just wondering.

But now, I feel sick. Icky all over. So I'm going to sleep on a Saturday at 9. Yeah the exciting life I live!

Editted to Add: My second package from my SP has arrived! A post with pictures will be coming soon. Right now I am TRYING to study and not fool around with the web and knitting and all the things I would rather be doing.

ehh

life has been kinda ehh lately. nothing in particular just ehh. ya know?

i think my apartment office manager is holding one of my packages hostage. about 8 months ago my apartment building got a new management company and now they only have someone in the office from 8-12. nice hours right? it must be really nice to work here when the office is only open on weekdays when everyone who lives here is either at work or at school. so UPS will drop packages off in the office without informing the person who is getting the package, and the manager will not bother to inform me either. so i think i might possibly have a package being held.

the tivolil tee is coming along so beautifully. it fits wonderfully, i'm knitting it at 6 stitches an inch which makes the size about 28.3 inches. which fits me wonderfully. i'm at the waist increases and i love it!

i sent off two RAOK on monday. i think the first one will be there tomorrow. i hope it is liked and enjoyed. i'm kinda worried about this..

tomorrow i will post a happy post (hopefully) and involving some pictures.

my take home exam is almost 1/2 done (maybe this accounts for my icky mood? i feel like i've been working on it forever and it is not done yet, but i have until friday).
